Finally Christmas

Hey Guys,

I am back and Christmas is gone, sadly ☻.

24th of December:

On the 24 you don't really do that much here, it's more like the 23 in Germany. To prepare evrything for he next day.

I spend the day wrapping up the last presents, watching christmas movies, and going to mas in the evening. Mas here is not that different to Germany, expect that they don't have christmas tree in the church and they don't do Krippenspiele. The rest was kind of the same, just in english. Anyway for me it was a bit different because it was cathlic mas and protestant as normal for me.

After we finished mas, we were allowed to open one present because my hostsister couldn't wait until the next morning.

25th of December:

We got up at 8 o'clock and me and my hostsister sneaked down to open our stockings (the socks you put on the fireplace on christmas eve). At half nine my hostparents came down and we could finally open all our presents.
I didn't really expected any presents because my mom told me that she forgot abut the parcel for me and i didn't think my hostfamily would buy me that much. But it turned out my mom did send me a parcel and i got some presents from my hostfamily as well, which was really nice ♥

Because they only celebrate christmas on the 25 we went to my hostmom's sister after gift giving, for dinner. Dinner on Christmas day is at around 3 o'clock and we had tradional turkey and ham with potatos, gravey and vegetables. For dessert we either had ice cream, black forest cake or apple pie, or all toghther.
It was the first time I tried turkey and I have to say it's not really that different to chicken but it is nice.

We were staying there until around 7 o'clock before we went back home to get everything we needed before we went to my Hostdad's sister, where I met all his brothers and sisters. Gerald has 8 siblings in total and than all with their family or wife or whatever, so you can imagine it was full, verry full. I can't remeber any of their names and I think i still can't when i am leaving Ireland ☻.


26th of december:

The 26 here is called boxing day. No shops are open and you are normally just at home lying around the couches watching movies and eating the sweets you got on christmas or playing with your new toys.

So, Christmas here is a lot different to Germany and I can't really say that I like it more, it is nice and great to exerience all of it but I think I stick with the German way of celebrating it ♥

Christmastree, market and...

Hey guys,

I can't believe that it's already two weeks since we've been in Dublin. Time runs so fast, and it is nearly Christmas (in 13 days).
Last week we already put up our christmas tree and other decoration and I have to say it is a lot different to germany. Nobody here has a real tree they all have these plastic ones :// and a lot of deco stuff on the tree, not like the classy ones we have... and when they already have some of the presents they are putting them under the tree and dont wait until the 23rd or 24th, which is definetly weird to see.
And irish families don't have an Adventskranz like germans and don't bake any christmas cookies :((
Some of them also have like snowmens or reindeers outside of their houses.

This Saturday we went to the Belfast 'Christmasmarket'. Yes it is kind of a christmas market but verry small and most of the shops were food (out of 10 food shops 7 were german ☻). It was different compared to german ones, not bad, just different (but german ones are still better and I think nobody can top the german ones.)

And we all baught a real german Currywurst, even if I am not really a sausage fan, I really miss german bratwurst ☻.

After that we just walked around Belfast, a little bit shopping and stuff like that... 

Yesterday, so on Friday I got my first irish report, which was pretty good, but because school here is really easy it is not that hard to get good grades and all that stuff...
The weird thing is that you don't get them personally, NO, the school is sending them home cause otherwise it could happen that the parents would never see the report because the students burned it or something... That really happened sometime ☻

PS: This morning we really did had snow, a lot. Sadly it was nearlly all gone when i came home this evening :((

PPS: I think i am gonna write the next post after christmas because I haven't really planed anything exciting for the next two weeks...

Dublin ♥

Hey guys,

I finally went to Dublin after exactly three months (yes one third of my exchange year is over now), and it was so nice ♥ I really loved it and I really love Dublin ♥, but from the beginning.

Charlotte and me were planning this trip, I think, for like three Weeks or so and today we finally went. That means I had to get up at 8 o'clock in the morning because the bus left at 9.

It was Charlotte, Paula and me who went and none of us has ever been to Dublin before, so by the time we got there no one of us had the slightest idea where to go, we just followed other people (who looked they have a clue of what they doing ☻). Fortunaly it was the right direction and after 3 minutes we found a Tourist Information so we got a map of Dublin so we couldn't get lost anymore.

Now that we had a map we realized that we just had to follow the street we were on, to get to the centre.

The first shop we went to was a souvenir shop (what a surprise ☻). It was seriously all green and white and all full of things with sheeps on and guinnes and shamrocks on it. The second shop then was pennys ☻. I didn't bought anything (I am proud of myself ☻).
Yeah and than like the normal shopping shops, like Topshop, forever 21, H&M... and Lush ♥ and Starbucks ♥.

The last Shop we went to is my new favourite shop now ♥ it is called Fat Face ☻ and it is absoltuly amazing (but it really is expensive and they only have shops in Ireland and England)

In the end I left Dublin with a new Dublin Jumper ♥ some other stuff and a lot less money than I brought to Dublin☻.

PPS: I know it doesn't fit to the topic, but I went to the gym on Thursday this week and I still have Muskelkarter in my legs, so a hint: Do never go to a gym in Ireland it is hard! ☻

Balbriggen and Christmas lights

Hello,

We've been to Balbriggen this Weekend, at the house of my hostmom's sister.
Balbriggen is a part of Dublin, around 25 Minutes with the train to the city centre.
We stayed there from Saturday to Sunday which was great ☻.

On Saturday me and Aoife went to the Cinema to watch the movie Pan (it is worth to see!) and after that home, where we watched Home alone (Kevin allein Zuhause) ☻.

For Dinner we got Pizza and Garlic Bread ♥.
On Sunday we just had Brunch before we drove back home.

At half three I met Pia, Elena, Zoe and Charlotte to go to town.
When they switch on the Christmas lights here there is always a big stage and a few stores where you can buy hot chocolate and tea and punch and all that stuff. And because that was today we decided to go there.
It was nice. They played Christmas songs all the time and you felt like it is nearly christmas. Unfortunately Christmas is only in one months :/

Next Weekend Charlotte and me will go up to Dublin ♥

Guys, we had snow ♥, I mean it was only for like 3 minutes but we had snow, in November!!!

Bowling, Newgrange and Drogheda

Hey guys,

I know I kept you waiting but last week nothing really interesting happened. 
But this weekend we went bowling on the saturday with all the other ones as jankas birthday party.

We wanted to be at the bowling centre at 2 o'clock. Actually we were there at 3 o'clock so the bowling alleys we bocked were gone.
But we got two new ones so it was no problem. And we had a lot of fun. (I won ☻)

On Sunday we went to Newgrange with Interstudies (If you wanna know what it is google it...)
This time my Hostsister went with us which was great. 
We left at 9 o'clock. The drive to Newgrange took us about one and a half hour, so by the time we get there it was half ten. 
We got our tickets and 30 minutes to look at the history before a shuttle bus took us to Newgrange. 
At Newgrange itself we were split of into two groups cause not all of us would fit in the cave at one time. So one group had to wait outside in the rain while the other one was inside the cave until we changed.

It was quite impressive what people over thousand years ago could build only out of stones and big rocks. (Newgrange is actually older than the Pyramids of Giza and Stonehenge)

Even if it was raining, it was nice day.
After we were finished at Newgrange we went to Drogheda where we had four hours to do whatever we wanted to do... It was so boring, the only real thing you could do there was go to pennys, but that had only covered one hour. We were actually so bored that we all went to visit the St. Patrick Cathederal ☻ The last three hours we had left after that we just sat somewhere in the shopping centre doing nothing. 

This is St. Patricks real head!

But all in all I really did liked the day ☻

Holidays and Halloween

Hallo...

Da wir grade Mid Term haben und das heißt das wir nicht zur Schule gehen müssen, hat meine Gastfamilie sich überlegt das wir für ein Wochenende nach Bundoran fahren könnten. Das haben wir dann letztes Wochenende auch gemacht.
Wir sind am Samstag Morgen losgefahren und am Montag wiedergekommen. 
Bundoran ist eine kleine niedliche "Stadt" in Donegal am Atlantik. Man kann dort eigentlich nicht besonders viel machen, aber es war trotzdem super...
Am Sonntag Morgen sind wir runter zum Strand gegangen (es war ziemlich windig und kalt aber trotzdem schön) und Nachmittags sind wir bowlen gegangen, mein Hostdad hat gewonnen und Abends noch essen, in einem kleinem niedlichen Cafe/Restaurant. Da gibt es das beste Chicken Kiev und den besten Chocolate Fudge Cake den ich je gegessen habe ♥
Und am Montag sind wir dann leider wieder nach Hause gefahren...

Diesen Samstag war Halloween, und da meine Gastschwester den tag nach Halloween Geburtstag hat hatte sie zwei ihrer Freundinnen hier zum übernachten.
Wir sind erst in die Stadt gegangen und dann abends nochmal zum Feuerwerk, welches recht klein war...
ich selber bin nicht trick or treating gegangen, aber die Leute die hier waren sahen zum teil echt gut aus...
ach ja Halloween kommt eigentlich aus Irland und nicht wie die meisten denken aus den USA.

Und ob ihr's glaubt oder nicht, ich bin hier nun schon für zwei Monate.
Die zeit vergeht hier echt schnell, denn es fühlt sich nicht an wie zwei Monate, ehr wie zwei Wochen.

1. Work Experience

Heyo,

The last week i spent working...
You heard right, i spent my last week in a Play School here in Moanaghan, the reason why i did that is that we had to do a work experience for school. 
So I've chosen to work in a Play School. That was actually really easy work. Everything I had to do was to play with the children and take care of them.
I started at 9 in the morning and finished at 1 in the afternoon, so a really short day for me...

Play School here is kind of the same like Kindergraden in Germany. But they are not doing all the same things. In German Kindergardens you can nearly do whatever you want to, only a few expectations, here they have to do build puzzles and do P.E. I mean they can also play with toys and Play-doh and stuff but yeah, they also have to do their work.
Play Schools here are really not that big as in Germnay, here are only up to 20 children in one Play School compared to germany that is nothing. 
And they are leaving Play School here with 4 Years...

Ginat's Cuaseway

Hey,

I have viseted the Giant's Causeway yesterday and it was fantastic ♥ even if had to stand up at half seven.
Our bus left at nine o'clock and it took us three hours to get there, but it was totally worth it!

For all of you who don't know what the Giant's Causeway is: The Ginats Causeway is one of the World Heritage Sites and was built by an ancient volcanic reaktion about 50 to 60 million years ago. It is located in Northern Ireland Co. Antrim. You can find a similar formation on the opposite coast in Scotland. It is pretty much made of hexagonal basalt columns. The biggest ones are about 12 meters high.

Finn McCools shoe

 There is also a legend about how it was built: 60 million years ago, a giant called Finn McCool lived there and in Scotland lived a Giant called Benandonner. Benandonner challenged Finn to fight against him. Finn built the Ginats Causeway over to Scotland so that the two Ginat's could meet. But when Finn saw how big Benandonner was 
he flew and hide in his house. But Benandonner found his house.

According to the ledgend the chemnies
on the rock, should belong to Finns house...

Finn was clever he hides as a baby and when the other Ginat saw him he thought this fight wasn't worth it cause he would loose anyway because he thought Finn was actually the Father from the baby, so he flew back to Scotland and destroyed the Causeway behind him, that Finn could not follow.


To see the Causeway was awsome. We had it in Geography and the picturs looked really impressive, but when you're actually there they look even more im pressive. 
The day was super and if you have the chance to go there do it...

Foodfestival and Picnic..

Hey Guys

In the last to weeks I haven't done a lot, only on the Weekends...

On the first Weekend we had a Foodfestival here in Monaghan, you could get a lot of free, nice food ♥ so i went there on Saturday and Sunday, the first day with Friends of me and the second day with my hostsister. It was nice...
Last weekend we went shopping. We went to Dundalk, because there is Penneys ☻and my hostsister wanted to go there (Don't worry we didn't went to the supermarket Penny, here they call Primark, Penneys. The first time I've heard it i thought you can't go shopping in Penneys but then my sister explained it to me...) 
I've never bought so less in Penneys, only four things!!!

On Sunday we've made a picnic with all the other Exchange students in Roosemore Park. We meet at one o'clock and walked nearly an hour to a lovley lake. There we have done our Picnic, and we had a lot of food...

We definitely had a lot of fun ♥

The next thing i will write about is probably the Giant's Causeway...

1 Month...

Hello,

So nun ist ein Monat vergangen, ein ganzer Monat! Es fühlt sich um ehrlich zu sein an wie 10 Tage... 
Es gefällt mir hier von Tag zu Tag besser. 
Im Moment vermisse ich Deutschland noch nicht wirklich, was wahrscheinlich daran liegt das ich bis jetzt, noch fast jeden Tag was neues erlebe.

Ich habe hier eigentlich relativ schnell neue Freunde gefunden, Irische sowie auch andere Austauschschüler mit denen ich Dinge unternehme.
In der Schule versteh ich mittlerweile alles (natürlich nicht alle Wörter aber aus dem Zusammenhang klappt das immer ☻)

Ich bin richtig froh, das ich die Chance habe all das hier zu erleben ♥ Danke Mama, Danke Papa ♥ und das ich hier hin gegangen bin und nicht wie ursprünglich gedacht in die USA, denn dann würde ich wahrscheinlich jetzt immer noch in Deutschland rum sitzen...

Mein erster Monat hier war super und ich hoffe die restlichen 8 werden das auch sein ♥ (und ich hoffe sie werden nicht so schnell vorbei sein wie der erste ☻)

The National Ploughing Championchips

Hello Guys,

Ich bin grade mal drei Wochen hier in der Schule und habe schon drei Ausflüge gemacht... Der erste war nach Tanagh das habe ich euch ja schon erzählt, der zweite war diese Woche Dienstag, da sind wir zu einer Comedy Show in Catleblayney gegangen, die war super... Am Anfang hab ich gedacht ich werde gar nichts verstehen, aber eigentlich habe ich alles verstanden ☻...

Der dritte Ausflug war dann gestern, zu den National Plaughing Championchips, jetzt fragt ihr euch wahrscheinlich was das ist...
Ich werd's erklären. Das ist ein riesen Gelände mit Ständen von über 600 Firmen, die meisten davon Landwirtschaftlich orientiert, man konnte sich unter anderem auch echte Kühe, Schweine, Schafe und Pferde angucken... es gab überall free food und ganz ganz viele Werbegeschenke ☻♥
Fast alle Leute sind da in Gummistiefeln und Regenjacke rumgelaufen (Ich auch☻), da man nie wusste wann es anfängt zu regnen und da das ganze auf Äckern war brauchte man die Gummistiefel auch...
Um dahin zu kommen musste ich um halb fünf aufstehen, da ich um 6 an der Schule sein musste, wir sind dann drei Stunden dahin gefahren... waren ca. um halb zehn da. Angekommen, haben wir Dreiergruppen gebildet in denen wir dann da rumlaufen durften, (nach fünf Minuten waren die Gruppen komplett gemischt).
Ich sag euch eins, einen ganzen Tag, von morgens um sechs bis abends um sechs in Gummistiefeln rumzulaufen bzw. generell zu laufen ist kein Spaß trotzdem hat es mega Spaß gemacht, auch wenn uns allen die Füße weh taten...
Zurück gefahren sind wir Abends um sieben, das heißt wir waren um halb zehn wieder an der Schule und da ich ca. ne halbe Stunde von der Schule entfernt wohne, war ich um 10 erst wieder zuhause... und somit heute in der Schule zu nichts zu gebrauchen ☻

Tanagh ♥

Hey Leute,

Ja mich gibt es auch noch...

In der letzten Woche ist eigentlich nicht grade viel passiert, ich bin ganz normal zur Schule gegangen und habe meine Hausaufgaben gemacht. By the way, man gewöhnt sich echt schnell an die Uniform...

Hab auch endlich geschafft ein paar Fotos für euch zu machen ☻

Das die Woche ganz normal war, stimmt nicht ganz, da wir am Freitag mit der ganzen Stufe einen Ausflug nach Tanagh gemacht haben. Das ist so ein Adventure outdoor center. Da sind wir zuerst Kanu fahren gegangen, ok eigentlich sind wir nur 100 Meter gefrahren und dann alle ins Wasser gesprungen oder haben die anderen Kanus gekentert ☻

Danach gab es dann erstmal heiße Fanta, es war nicht wirklich Fanta, aber es hat so geschmeckt und es war echt gut, da uns allen so mega kalt war... Der Bus hat uns dann wieder zurück gebracht und es ging auf die Matschrutsche, die könnt ihr euch so vorstellen wie diese Wasserrutschen die man auf den Boden legt, nur in mega groß. Und wenn man nicht früh genug gebremst hat, ist man Ende in einem riesen Matschloch gelandet. Wir sahen am Ende alle aus wie kleine Schweinchen ☻ Leider konnte ich selber keine Bilder von dem ganzen machen, da ich mein Handy nicht mitnehmen wollte... aber Tanagh selber hat ein Paar Bilder von uns gemacht...

Nachdem wir dann alle aussahen wie Schweine konnten wir erstmal Duschen gehen und hatten dann Lunch, nach Lunch sind wir noch klettern gegangen (An einer Kletterwand) und am Ende haben wir noch Bogenschießen gemacht. Der Tag war super ♥

School's on...

Hallöle,

Am Donnerstag war mein erster Schultag, ok Schultag kann man das nicht wirklich nennen, da wir die meiste Zeit nur rumgesessen haben und irgendwas erzählt bekommen haben, wovon ich die Hälfte nicht mal verstanden habe ☻aber von vorne...

Ich musste um sieben Uhr aufstehen, da mein Bus um Acht Uhr losfährt und ich erst noch zehn Minuten zur Bushaltestelle hinlaufen muss...
Ich habe also zum ersten mal in meinem Leben eine Schuluniform angezogen, man muss sich dran gewöhnen, aber ist eigentlich ganz cool da man sich so keine Gedanken darüber machen muss was man anziehen soll ☻ (Hab leider noch keine Bilder für euch, aber ich werde welche machen, versprochen!) 
Zum Frühstück gab es Kellog's und Tee ☻

Als wir um halb neun in der Schule ankamen, eigentlich beginnt die Schule erst um 9, mussten wir in die Gym?! Keine Ahnung warum die das so nennen, da es nicht wirklich eine Sporthalle ist. Es ist einfach nur ein Raum, mit einer Bühne wo drei Bänke drin stehen ☻
Da wurde uns dann die ersten drei Stunden was erzählt und wir wurden in Gruppen aufgeteilt, nur leider stand ich auf keiner der Listen, was ziemlich doof war, da ich so auch noch keinen Stundenplan bekommen habe... Mittlerweile hab ich einen, da sind aber noch ein paar Lücken die ausgefüllt werden müssen, keine Ahnung wie das gehen soll!!
Nachdem sie dann fertig waren mit erzählen und erklären hatten wir Break und danach mussten wir nochmal in die Gym da zwei Lehrer uns noch irgendwas erklären wollten, was mich aber erstmal nicht betrifft...
Ja dann hatte ich meine erste richtig Klasse und zwar English, also bis jetzt war das ziemlich einfach. Wir sollten einen Text schreiben indem wir uns selbst vorstellen, den zu Ende zu machen ist auch unsere Hausaufgabe bis Montag. Also ziemlich easy ☻
Danach hatten wir eine Klasse wo ich den Sinn noch nicht so ganz gecheckt habe, wir sprechen da irgendwie über Cultural Studies, keine Ahnung ich werde es noch raus finden...

In Lunch sind wir alle in die Cantine gegangen und haben unser Lunchpaket gegessen, die ist mega klein nur so nebenbei?! und after Lunch haben wir uns alle nochmal in der Gym getroffen und so ein "Spiel" gespielt, eigentlich war es dazu da das wir dazu im Stande sind in Gruppen zusammen zu arbeiten ☻ And finally my first School day was over ☻and I survived it ♥ 

Übrigens eine Schulstunde ist hier einfach nur 35 Minuten lang, das heißt du gehst in den Raum packst deine Sachen aus der Lehrer geht die Anwesenheit durch und du kannst wieder gehen, so ungefähr ☻

Der zweite Tag war nicht mehr ganz so chaotisch, da jeder wusste wo er hin musste und was er zu tun hatte, viel haben wir aber trotzdem nicht gemacht...

My first days

Hallo,

Meine ersten Tage in Irland..., die ganzen letzten Male sind alle schon gewesen, jetzt kommen die ganzen ersten Male ☻
Also als ich am Samstag angekommen bin, hat meine GF mich wie schon erwähnt am Flughafen abgeholt und ist dann mit mir nach Hause gefahren, auf dem Weg dahin haben wir allerdings noch meine Gastschwester bei ihrem Onkel abgeholt und so hab ich auch gleich die komplette Verwandtschaft kennengelernt.
An diesem Tag haben wir dann nicht mehr viel gemacht, da ich auch ziemlich müde war vom Flug und so...

Am Sonntag sind mir dann nach Monaghan rein gefahren und Aoive hat mir die Stadt gezeigt (hier haben die Geschäfte anscheinend auch Sonntags auf ♥) Meine Gastmutter war während der Zeit in einem Pub und da wir da nachher auch hingegangen sind war ich auch schon in meinem ersten Irish Pub ☻.

Am Montag bin ich Morgens mit meinem Gastvater und meiner Gastschwester bei McDonald's frühstücken gegangen und danach haben wir noch nach Schulschuhen für mich geguckt, es ist echt nicht einfach hier Schuhe für Mädchen in größe 42/43 zu finden es gab nur ein Paar welches mir passte also hatte ich gar keine andere Wahl als die zu nehmen... Meine Schuluniform habe ich Nachmittags mit meiner Gastmutter an der Schule abgeholt und da sie second Hand ist musste ich auch nichts dafür bezahlen☻ (das wäre sonst echt Teuer gewesen da ich auch noch meine Bücher kaufen muss...) Nachdem wir die Uniform hatten sind wir nochmal nach Monaghan gefahren und haben meine Schuhe geholt da ich am Morgen kein Geld mit hatte. (Fotos bekommt ihr wenn ich meinen ersten Schultag hatte)

Heute und morgen bin ich erstmal alleine Zuhause da ich noch keine Schule habe meine Gasteltern aber Arbeiten müssen und Aoives Schule heute begonnen hat.
